When the air gets cool and crisp and the leaves start falling, nothing feels more festive than heading to the pumpkin patch to choose your very own pumpkin to carve into a jack-o-lantern. The perfect activity for families and kids, pumpkin picking is a fall tradition that is quintessential October fun. Here are some events where you can enjoy an autumn day out among the pumpkins.
On Saturday, October 8th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., attend the Pumpkin Drop Festival for a day of activities on the farm. The pumpkin drop is the prime event, where huge pumpkins full of candy are dropped from a crane. The kids then get to collect as much candy as they can. There will also be a corn maze, hay rides, live music, and pony rides for guests to enjoy. Tickets for this event are $15 per person. The rain date for this event is Sunday, October 9th.
Every weekend from September 24th to October 30th, you can head to the farm to pick a pumpkin and get lost in the corn maze. A $10 ticket includes a hay ride and maze access.
October 20th – 22nd from 6-8 p.m., jump on a hay ride to see hundreds of grinning jack-o-lanterns by moonlight. This special hay ride is $10 per person.
October 15th from 6-8 p.m. (weather permitting), get your flashlight ready and dare to enter the corn maze after dark. $8 dollars gets you an after-nightfall maze adventure.
R & C Farms/Simon’s Greenhouse & Farmstand also has deals for birthday parties and group events. Finally, don’t forget to stay with us at the Inn at Scituate and enjoy an old-fashioned, family-friendly fall.
