Scituate Harbor has been proclaimed a cultural district. This new label is sure to bring both more cultural activity and money to the coastal village.
The area’s application to have the harbor recognized as the cultural district it rightfully is, was approved by the Massachusetts Cultural Council recently. This means that the main business district in Scituate can now apply for state grants to help promote the arts.
The village center is currently home to over a dozen arts-related businesses, including jewelry makers, photographers, art galleries and a music store. There are also several art associations who are active in the area.
If you love browsing art, be sure to take part in the Annual Art Walk that will take place on Friday, May 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. During the walk, a variety of local artists display their art throughout various businesses in Scituate. Another wonderful event taking place is, the “2016 Annual Juried Show” , which is running from April 12 through May 1, 2016. This event is sponsored by the Scituate Arts Association. The gallery will feature paintings, photographs, sculptures and crafts, which will be available to purchase.
